Guinness brings Super Eagles to Lagos, hosts spectacular victory tour and concert

Guinness, proud sponsor of the Super Eagles in conjunction with the Lagos state government flagged off the Super Eagles Victory tour. The day long activity in honour of the African Champions, the Super Eagles and the AFCON trophy, started out at a congratulatory reception held at the State House in Lagos after which, the Tour continued in a procession amidst fanfare and excitement, with the Trophy on display, on through major locations in the city. At every point of the journey, the procession met with and was greeted by excited and cheering Fans who expressed appreciation to Guinness for Bringing the Champions of Africa to Lagos and the Trophy to Lagos.

The tour continued till the Teslim Balogun stadium where the Eagles were hosted to a concert with some of Nigeria’s best on stage. The Managing Director/Chief Executive of Guinness Nigeria Plc Mr. Seni Adetu at the Stadium announced that the team would be presented a total sum of $50,000 representing the earlier promised $5,000 for each goal scored from the team’s 2nd match against Zambia. The MD also mentioned that each member of the entire team including the technical crew and staff would receive a year’s supply of Guinness products in varying proportions 


Performers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium concert included Sound Sultan, Terry G, Mr Raw, Tu-face Idibia and Kola Soul, amongst others. 

Recall that Guinness affirmed its support for the national team well ahead of the 2013 AFCON tournament and remained steadfast in its resolve to galvanize support for the Eagles. The Guinness Fly with the Eagles campaign offered 200 lucky Nigerians the opportunity to visit South Africa and to cheer the Eagles on to victory. The brand went ahead to make a clarion call to over 160 million fans to come out and sign their goodwill message to the Super Eagles with the production of the world’s largest jersey, which went on display in two key cities in Nigeria. Guinness in its drive to ensure Nigerians watched all the matches live, established open fan parks for football lovers. With the victory of the Eagles and the arrival of the cup in Nigeria, the Guinness brand has once again demonstrated its passion for the game by organizing the victory tour & celebration.
