MTN Project Fame Season 6

MTN is back with Project Fame. In season 6, they say they want to inspire more youths in West Africa to aim to become great and to fulfill their natural musical talent. One of the most, if not the most inspirational music talent shows we have in West Africa is MTN’s Project Fame, which has over the last five years inspired ten’s of thousands of young Nigerians, Ghanaians, Liberians and Serra Leoneans to strive to become music superstars.

MTN Project Fame has been able to select really talented and determined contestants as many of them have gone on to become household names in the music industry not only in West Africa but also in East Africa and even as far as America. Iyanya and Chidinma winners of MTN Project Fame in season 1 and 3 have both been on overseas tours and are in high demand locally.

In season 6 MTN Project Fame West Africa is also inspiring young talented musical artist to come out for auditions in 10 West African cities – Monrovia-Liberia on May 25th, Freetown –Serria Leone on May 30th & June 1st and Accra-Ghana on June 1st, Benin & Abuja June 8th, Port Harcourt & Ilorin on June 15th, Calabar and Ibadan on June 22nd and Lagos on June 28 & 29th.

The inspiration for many youth is the success that many of the MTN Project Fame contestants have had, even contestants that come 2nd and 3rd are doing very well. Nicholas from Liberia and Kesse from Ghana have both been winning awards after leaving the Project Fame Academy. Nicholas won the Personality of the Year Award in Liberia in 2009 and Kesse won Best Male Vocalist at the Ghana Music Awards in 2012.

MTN Project fame has also inspired young talent to explore different genre’s of music. One of the discoveries from last season was Adetoun who was elected at the new WAKA Princess. This a music form that has deep cultural roots but no up and coming star. Adetoun who came 3rd is a perfect fit for that type of music with her youthful hip style she is set to take it by storm.

MTN Project Fame has definitely got it right with Project Fame as a means of encouraging and inspiring youth to fulfil their potential.
