Arsenal’s bid for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been turned down by Liverpool, reports the BBC Sport. The Gunners have tabled a £30m bid for the striker, who has been the subject of several transfer speculations, but the Kops says no deal.
It is understood the English Premier League club had moved to sign the unsettled striker in their bid to land a top class forward to booster their title challenge next season as Gonzalo Higuain’s deal lingers on, but the Merseyside club remains adamant to let go of their prolific goalscorer.
Liverpool have refused to comment on the reports of Arsenal move, but the player’s future should become clearer by next month, when he’s expected to have returned for the pre-season.
Real Madrid has been the top contender in the pursuit of the 26-year-old Uruguayan, who has lashed out at the English Press in recent times, claiming he has been prejudiced by the media. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the striker who is presently counting down his ten-match ban for biting Blues’ defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers does not seem bothered by the speculations of an impending Anfield exit for Suarez as the striker has yet to submit a formal transfer request to the club.
Real are however expected to put the club’s resolve to the test by making a lucrative offer for Suarez in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dismissed speculation Higuain is about to join Arsenal by revealing the London club are yet to make an offer for the Argentina international.
“We don’t want Higuain to leave,”Perez told Univision. “What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table.”
Higuain, who told the media on the final day of the Spanish Primera Division season that he was going to leave Madrid in the summer, was reported to be on the verge of a £23m move to the Emirate Stadium.
