Federer and Nadal Enter Shanghai Masters Chasing Djokovic

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal enter the Shanghai Masters this week looking to upset Novak Djokovic, Lebanese Naharnet reports.

Nadal, who is number two in the ATP rankings, has been recovering from a wrist injury from a training session in July. After three months on the sidelines and having missed a series of tournaments, the Spaniard hopes to end the season on a high note, NDTV Sports said.
Federer, the 33-year old Swiss tennis legend, is currently ranked third. Only 285 points separate Federer from his arch-rival Nadal, according to the updated ATP rankings and he will certainly try to make up the difference in points.

“Of course, the wish is to win the tournament here… That is the goal, no doubt about it. I feel my game is good enough now, but the field is very strong”, Federer told during a press conference, as quoted by ATP World Tour.

Considering Nadal is coming off of the injury, both his mental and physical conditions remain questionable. This presents Federer with a great opportunity to leapfrog the Spaniard in the rankings.
Novak Djokovic has had a great season and remains the number one in the ATP rankings with 12,150 points. Regardless of the Shanghai Master’s outcome, the 27-year old Serb will remain untouchable, as Masters Tournaments have 1,000 points at stake.

The Federer-Nadal rivalry is considered as the best rivalry in tennis, as the two players have won 31 Grand Slam singles titles between each other.
