FIFA reinstates Maigari as NFF Chairman

World football governing body, FIFA, today Thursday August 14th ordered the re-instatement of impeached Aminu Maigari as president of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.

The directive, which was conveyed in an email signed by the Deputy Secretary General of FIFA, Markus Kattner and sent to the NFF Secretary General Musa Amadu, stated that the NFF leadership must remain as status quo prior to the World cup in Brazil.

Ebola countries told to move matches

Guinea and Sierra Leone have been ordered to move their African Nations Cup qualifiers next month to neutral territory following the outbreak of the Ebola virus in west Africa, which has killed more than 1,000 people. The Confederation of African Football said on Tuesday that Liberia, who are out of the Nations Cup, must also move international matches although there are none imminent at senior, club or junior level, Reuters reports. Sierra Leone had already asked Ghana to host their game against the Democratic Republic of Congo next month but have received an uncertain response. The Ebola epidemic – the world’s largest and deadliest so far – has killed 1,013 in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. The World Health Organization has declared an international health emergency as it predicts the epidemic will continue for months.

Find new club, Chelsea tells Cech

Chelsea will tell Petr Cech to find a new club in the final weeks of the transfer window after deciding to make Thibaut Courtois their No.1 this season.

Jose Mourinho is to put his faith in Courtois at the start of the campaign, spelling the end for Cech at Stamford Bridge following a decade spent as the club’s undisputed first choice.

Cech will be encouraged to move as Chelsea stand to receive a more significant transfer fee from selling the Czech goalkeeper now than in 12 months, when he would have just one year to run on his contract.

'There is no music industry in Nigeria' - Ex-singer Etcetera says

Controversial artist turned writer, Paul Uche Ejikeme aka Etcetera says there's no music industry in Nigeria yet. When asked what he'd do if he'd the ability to alter anything in the Nigerian music industry, he said;

"There is no industry yet my brother. So the only thing that can be changed is everything. What we have is just a bunch of hardworking individuals swimming against the tide to make a living for themselves. We need structures to have an industry. And as we speak, we don't have that industry yet" 

Asked why Nigerian artistes are acknowledged globally even with the seeming no structure he talked about, Etcetera said;

"Our artiste are known globally because music is the only universally accepted language. But with structures, our musicians will rip the fruits of their labor and have something to fall back when they are too old to jump on any stage" he said. Continue...
