Super Eagles Receive warm welcome In Ethiopia (Photos)



The Nigerian national team found its way to Addis Ababa on Saturday morning for Sunday's 2014 World Cup qualifying first leg play-off match against Ethiopia.

Their chartered Ethiopian Airlines plane touched down at the Bole International Airport at 8:50am with a delegation including government officials, members of the Nigeria Football Federation, Nigeria Supporters Club and press.

Eagles coach targets Ethiopia victory

Super Eagles coach  Stephen Keshi has set his sights on victory in Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations  Group C  encounter with   Ethiopia at Rustenburg,   after  Nigeria drew 1-1  with Zambia on Friday, Mtnfootball.comreports.  The  Eagles could  not defend their lead as they allowed the defending champions to fight back and cancel out Emmanuel Emenike’s 57th minute opener. Keshi said, “We wanted the three points,  with due respect to Zambia, they are a great team and have been together for the past four years and also they are the defending champs.

Group C: Nigeria, Zambia and the Return of Ethiopia


The group C of the 2013 Africa Nations Cup has Zambia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia. Nigeria and Zambia are familiar foes but 1962 champions Ethiopia said winning the title in South Africa is their dream

Next year’s Africa Nations Cup will be Nigeria’s 17th appearance at the tournament proper after they sensationally failed to qualify for the 2012 edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea last year. They have won the tournament twice, on home soil in 1980 and then in Tunisia in 1994.
