Lagos FA To commence preparation for youth games

The Lagos State Football Association will on Monday commence preparation for the National Sports Commission organised National Youth Games scheduled for Abuja in September. Lagos will present two teams in the boys and girls categories at the zonal elimination in Ibadan against  Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states . The zonal elimination is scheduled to take place from August 14 to 18. Speaking after the meeting of the Technical Committee of the board, Dotun Coker, chairman of the committee, said the screening of players would commence on Monday as directed by the state’s sports council. He added that the first round of screening would end on July 23. Coker urged the coaches to abide strictly with the guidelines of the youth games by ensuring that the players were U- 17 before the beginning of the zonal elimination. Meanwhile, the LSFA has concluded plans for the kick-off of the glamorous Oba Cup football tournament with a target of 160 teams participating in the tournament. The tournament, which has Skye Bank Plc as the title sponsors, will kick-off on July 22.

Africa: Local Youth Team Qualified to Finals of African Nations

The Egyptian youth team was qualified to the finals of the African Cup of Nations for Youth to be held in Algeria, after a goalless draw with his Angolan counterpart in the return leg which was held yesterday 10/07/2012 in the capital, Luanda.

The Egyptian youth team has achieved a difficult win over Angola in the face of Go in Cairo with two goals against a goal.
