Following the devastating fire on 2 September 2014 at the Big Brother house in Johannesburg, M-Net and Endemol SA have spent the last 48 hours searching both locally and internationally for a venue in which to produce Season 9 of the highly popular Big Brother Africa reality show. After exploring all possible options, the team are delighted to announce that the show will go on as a venue has been found to get the show on air within the next month.

Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, is the traditional King (Ọọ̀ni) of Ile-Ife’, an ancient city located in Osun state in Nigeria’s south-western region. Ile-Ife is generally believed to be the traditional home of the Yoruba civilization. Oba Sijuwade, 84, who ascended the throne in 1980, is also a prosperous businessman. The Ọọ̀ni first cut his teeth in business by working in his father’s trading business as a teenager before going to the United Kingdom to study for a degree in business. Upon his return back to Nigeria, he worked as a manager for the Leventis Group and as a sales executive for National Motor.

Fifa Ranking: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Drop To 5th position in Africa

The Super Eagles maintained their place as the 35th best national team in the World, according to the latest Fifa ranking released in Zurich yesterday. The Eagles also perched on the 5th position in Africa. Ivory Coast is still Africa’s number one national side, a position the Elephants have held for nearly two years now. However, the Ivorians lost 5 points this time to finish at 18 on the overall rating.

Merely hours ago, on Saturday 18th May 2013, the first ever platform for all African entertainers to hit the same concert stage took place in Durban, South Africa at the “MTV Africa All Stars Kwazulu-Natal With Snoop Lion” Concert.

The MTV Africa All Stars – D’Banj, Flavour, 2Face Idibia, Fally Ipupa, Big Nuz, Professor, D’Banj, Zahara, Zakes Bantwini & Camp Mulla – tore up the Moses Mabhida Peoples’ Park with assistance fromDJ Cleo & DJ Caise as they set the thrilling pace for Snoop Lion’s African debut since his ‘Reincarnation’.

The star studded affair was hosted by MTV VJs Sizwe Dhlomo & Nomuzi Mabena and was quite the sold out event , filled with excited fans. Sizwe looked fresh and cool in a black winter jacket and blue jeans while the stunning Nomuzi dazzled in her sparking golde dress and gold-studded black heels to match.

At the concert, the star of the night Snoop Lion claimed the stage in a pair of jeans and a traditional Zulu attire as he took the audience through time rapping effortlessly and seamlessly through both old and new hits as Snoop Dogg & his new persona, Snoop Lion.

One of the most memorable performances was… it’s hard to say because the all stars really came out with guns blazing and thrilled the crowd with energetic and enthralling performances.

Red carpets belongs to Denrele, he handles red carpet sessions well, but Saturday’s session will be different; he is missing a true friend who he’d have loved to have with him on this day.

For a lesser man, we’ll watch him make many mistakes on the red carpet; say something wrong to a star, ask irrelevant questions, or even start a fight off camera-that’s how hard it is to lose a friend, a very close one. The World AIDS Day ‘Play for Life’ Novelty Football Match in partnership with Friends Africa’s Goodwill Ambassador, Mr Emmanuel Babayaro (MON) took place on December 1, 2012 at the Campos Mini Stadium Lagos Island from 3pm until 6pm. This formed a part of Friends Africa’s activities to commemorate the 2012 World AIDS Day. The novelty match was played between a team of ex-football stars (Team Eagles) and a team of celebrities in the music and movie industry in Nigeria (Team Entertainers). People living with HIV were match officials, coaches, supporters and special guests. In attendance was former president of Nigeria H.E. Gen. Yakubu Gowon, who shook hands with all the players just before kick-off. Team Eagles won Team Entertainers 8 goals to 3 with JayJay Okocha netting a hat trick.

Yobe Desert Rollers ready for Africa Hockey Championship

Damaturu – Alhaji Sani Fema, Chairman, Yobe Sports Commission, has assured Nigerians that the Yobe Desert Rollers hockey team was prepared to win the forthcoming African Men Hockey Club Championship in Zimbabwe.

Fema gave the assurance on Saturday in Damaturu in an interview on the team’s readiness for the championship which will hold in December in Harare, Zimbabwe.

“The team has trained vigorously and acquired more technical knowledge to improve on its third-place position of last year and go on to win the main trophy this year.

“The coaches have evolved new skills and the players have worked hard at the training camp to ensure a successful outing in Harare,’’ he said.

Fema commended the state government for providing the team with the required training facilities and logistics which had kept the team in good shape and high spirits for the competition.

“The team is fully prepared to do Nigeria proud at the championship which commences on Dec. 1.(NAN)

Africa: Local Youth Team Qualified to Finals of African Nations

The Egyptian youth team was qualified to the finals of the African Cup of Nations for Youth to be held in Algeria, after a goalless draw with his Angolan counterpart in the return leg which was held yesterday 10/07/2012 in the capital, Luanda.

The Egyptian youth team has achieved a difficult win over Angola in the face of Go in Cairo with two goals against a goal.
