According to reports we received, Ositelu popularly addressed as ‘Arena’ amongst his peers, died last night while watching television. “I can confirm now that Deacon AYO OSITELU is indeed DEAD!” family friend and journalist, Kayode Tijani, confirmed. “Spoke to his Wife. He was watching TV with her and next he was dead. Am in SHOCK.” other sources say it was shortly after the Super Eagles friendly against Cape Verde. It can be recalled that Arena served as compered in the tennis exhibition match between the Williams sisters last November.

Sports: Tale of woes for Nigeria in 2012
Nigeria was part of the global sporting events in 2012, but the result pointed out to a dangerous trend as star names failed to lift the nation’s image. Blessing Okagbare and Chika Chukwumerije are the biggest names that shocked the nation.

Nigeria took part in the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
In the 60m male event, Peter Emelezie had a fair start, qualifying from the heat with a time of 6.85 to reach the semifinals. But he failed to move on even with a better time of 6.81. United States’ Justin Gatlin eventually won gold, while Jamaica’s Nesta Carter came second. Dwain Chambers of Great Britain won the bronze medal.

Nigeria sports activities is suffering spiritual attacks – Bazighe
Former African champion and national javelin record holder, Pius Bazighe took the dwindling fortunes of Nigerian sports to another dimension, when he declared that spiritual forces were behind maladministration in the country’s sports. Bazighe who is part of Bayelsa State delegation to the National Sports Festival said that things have gone from bad to worst in all levels of sports administration.
