Apart from the regular categories of awards, 3 other individuals were honored by AFRIMMA for their service to African music at Eisemann Center, Dallas, Texas.

Germany wins World Cup Finals

The Super Falconets of Nigeria have lost the Under 20 Women’s World Cup to Germany. An extra-time winner by Lena Petermann was enough to deny them the FIFA U20 Women World Cup trophy which took place in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium in Canada as they were beaten 1-0. . This is the second time in three editions that the Falconets have lost out on the trophy. Four years ago, they also lost 2-0 in a finals against the Germans.Incidentally, it was Germany that also won the Senior men’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil just recently. However, Falconets forward, Asisat Oshoala, was voted the Most Valuable player at the 2014 FIFA U-20 World Cup. She won the Golden Ball award as the best player and Golden Boot after scoring seven goals.

Chris Brown 'shot at', Suge Knight 'injured' during LA nightclub party

According to a breaking news report on Daily Mail and TMZ, singer Chris Brown was 'shot at' in the early hours of this morning at a pre-VMAs party at 10AK night club in LA. Chris, who was hosting the party, was not injured but music label boss Suge Knight was shot twice. Two others were injured, one of them said to be in critical condition.

According to Daily Mail, witnesses at the scene claimed that Chris Brown was the target of the shooting, but TMZ said they weren't so sure who the target was.....

Drake raps about missing Rihanna in new single

Drake is clearly enthusiastic about Rihanna. Not only did he whine publicly -many times- when she dumped him many years back after sleeping with him, he's talked about her several times in his songs. 

The on again/off again couple, who are still back on, spent sometime together earlier this season in Europe when Drake was on tour, but immediately they returned to LA, things were much different.

Their time together obviously meant something to Drake while he rapped about it in his leaked new song'Views From The 6 ', the title track for his next album. 

Drake talked about their time in Europe, how they stopped talking when they returned to LA, and even mentioned Rihanna's BFF Melissa Forde's name in the track. When Drake mentions Melissa in the track, a snippet of Rih talking is played! A person who's truly in love.

Nigerian League: Pillars, Gombe win

The Nigerian League defending champion, Kano Pillars, have retained their top spot in the 25th week of the 2013/14 league season after defeating Abia Warriors in Kano, on Saturday, with a lone goal. The champion now has 43 points. Elsewhere, Dolphins FC could not score a goal against Sharks FC in Port Harcourt. Both teams played a goalless draw. Dolphins FC now has 39 points. In other matches, Sunshine Stars played 2-1 at home when they hosted Rangers International while Gombe FC recorded their first straight win of the season against Crown FC of Ogbomosho.

With Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s six-year marriage reportedly headed for a sure divorce, everyone wants to know what went wrong with the much loved, one time happy couple. President Jonathan, who's currently in Germany, is pictured above speaking on the Phone with Nigeria's U20 Falconets that are participating in the 2014 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in Montreal, Canada.  The footballers are going to be playing against their German counterparts tomorrow August 24th in the finals of the football tournament.  In the Telephone conversation, President Jonathan acknowledged that the Falconets did a great job to reach the finals, urged them to beat Germany and promised them a heroine welcome.
