Nollywood Is Now Dead - Emeka Ike

He is one of the most popular actors in Nigeria. This is because he’s probably one actor who has kissed all the ladies who ever acted love roles in Nollywood films featuring him.
Emeka Ike is a role model to  youths too. Ike has acted in a good number of classic movies like  Leap of faith, Love doctor    amongst others.   In spite of the glamour and fame of being an actor,  Ike said  he sometimes regrets being a celebrity. In this encounter with  The Entertainer, Ike explains why he regrets being a celebrity and bares his mind on other issues.
Excerpts:
You seem to be taking a break from acting. Why ?
It’s not only me you don’t see in  movies these days. You don’t see other big names as well. You don’t see all of us the way you used to see us then. We aren’t that current and regular as before. This is because lately, a problem I have been lamenting over has sent everybody back to the drawing board. So, we are all making one movie in a year now. I just made my own movie recently. What they are doing now isn’t the Nollywood l know. Now, they are making a movie and cutting it into 10 parts.

FOR REAL: Actresses Now Pay To Get Movie Roles

Despite the huge success recorded by Nollywood in the last 20 years, the Nigerian motion picture industry, currently ranked second globally in terms of quantity production, keeps recording bizarre occurrences.
Gone are the days when sexual harassments or sex-for-roles are in vogue in the industry.
What reigns supreme these days among some crop of filmmakers is financial payment in exchange for movie roles, which in most cases does not come the way of the desperate up and coming actresses trapped in this new scam shamefully scripted by Nollywood insiders.

Now, I want Confederations Cup –Mikel

Mikel Obi tells MTNFootball.com  his next target is to make another history by winning the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Did you believe from the onset Nigeria would be champions again?
Yes. We had it at the back of our mind to win right from the training camp in Portugal. We were driven to write our names in gold, make Nigerians happy and with hard work, God made it possible for us.
After the first two games, where the Eagles drew with Burkina Faso and Zambia, millions of Nigerians lost hope in the team. Was that the same feeling in the team?
There was no point in the competition that I, for one, felt we won’t win it. I told you before we went for the tournament that there are no small teams in football again. I knew it won’t be an easy task for us, so we prepared for it and kept believing in ourselves even when things looked difficult.

I Can’t Coach Nigeria Now — Oliseh

Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh has distanced himself from any coaching job in Nigeria for now.
He said the system and authorities make it difficult for a serious coach to succeed. Oliseh, who was a guest and a panelist at the Supersport analysis programme said many Nigerians have asked him to consider a coaching job in the country which he turned down.
“People have asked me why don’t you take a coaching job in Nigeria and I said I don’t think I would want to do that because I know my country more than you guys and have served it for eleven years winning everything with it. But now we are seeing changes. We have a government and minister that seem to be appreciating what we are doing.”
He said what they have going are the people who love them with a passion.
