P-Square off the Soundcity’s Top 10 Nigeria This Week


International recording artiste, Bez climbs to the top of the authoritative music video countdown show – Soundcity’s Top 10 Nigeria.

This week on the long-running chart show hosted by Adams (@Adams_VJ) and Pearl (@PearlCardy), there was a major overhaul with only the ‘Voom va’ video from Skuki is on the top five, ‘Voom va’ moved from the number 5 position last week to number 3 on this week countdown. Cynthia Morgan makes an entry at Number 10. Tekno’s collaboration with Davido was among the new entries with the Moe Musa-directed video at number 9 position, Wizkid and L.A.X – ‘caro’ collaboration at number eight and A-Q’s Bang at the number 7 position.

Although, these movies ought not to be sold in the country, this is, however, not the case in Lagos, where porn movies are publicly displayed, including for the curious eyes of underage persons.  Basically, porn CDs with lewd cover pictures can be found at major junctions from 6pm, openly displayed together with regular movies, to draw the attention of passersby.

Final Top 2 Performances... Banky W joins Nigerian Idol 3 - So, who's your winner?

Finally, Nigeria's top TV reality music competition, Nigerian Idol season 3, has reached its last set of performances. With 3 performances each on Sunday night, the Top 2 contestants, Debbie rise and Moses, delivered beyond their best. During the final performances, Debbie and Moses performed Cyndi Lauper's 'Time after Time'. It was the first, and perhaps last, duet for the two contestants. The judges - Yinka Davies, Femi Kuti and Jefrey Daniels - all agreed that both contestants deserved the crown.

Nigerian Idol Top 6 Bring It Home With Nigerian Hit Songs


It was all about coming home as the Nigerian Idol top 6 were all about music from our shores as they took their song choices from the current hits flooding the Nigerian airwaves, all by Nigerian artists. Femi Sowoolu taking on the mantle of guest judge for the show, and for the first time, the contestants were paired up and singing duets.

Seyi Shay was the first artist covered, as Efezino performed her hit song ‘Loving Your Way’. It seemed she sold both the crowd and the judges on her performance because she was told by Jeffrey Daniel, “You were killing it on the chorus…a pleasant performance.” Yinka Davies followed up with, ‘It was more than pleasant I loved it!” And Femi Kuti gave his seal of approval, telling her that she seemed really comfortable on stage.

The battle for Nigerian Idol top spot begins as the top 30 battle it out

The third season of the ever popular music reality show, Nigerian Idol is up to a promising start as the show enters the top thirty stage. This stage will see ten contestants battle it out every week for three weeks and then a wild card show with some of the old contestants given the opportunity to make it into the next stage of the show. CAF Unveils Top Three For African Player Of The Year. See them




The confederation of African Football (CAF) announces the top three candidates for this year‘s African player of the year.
Reigning footballer of the year, Ivory coast and Manchester city Midfielder, Yaya Toure is joined by fellow Ivorian and national team Captain, Didier Drogba who plies his trade at Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua and The Cameroonian and Barcelona midfielder, alexander song.
The winner will be announced later this month on 20th December at the Awards Gala in Accra, Ghana.
