Source: The Sun
In this interview with The Entertainer, he talks about the state of Nigerian music and other issues.
Since 1970 when he relocated to Nigeria, flutist, Tee Mac Omatsola Iseli has constantly been in the news. A one-time PMAN president, philanthropist and businessman, he remains very active in music circles in the country.
Tee Mac, rather than grow old, you’re getting younger. What is responsible for this?
To be honest with you, I’m 64 now. I live moderately. I work very hard and I exercise. I don’t eat red meat and that is very important. I eat lots of vegetables and fruits and I think the combination of healthy living and exercise keeps me young. And of course, the love for music. When you’re a musician, you don’t grow old. You stay a teenager forever.

Nigerian Acts Are Threatened By Me — Mode 9

Veteran hip hop artiste, Mode 9, detests being put in a box. Call him a rap artiste and he is quick to correct you that he is a lyricist and a versatile one at that. With four albums to his credit, the artiste, who recently put out two new singles — Street Runner and Paris Freestyle— off his forthcoming album, is not relenting in his wit in wordplay, catchy rhymes and punch lines. He’s been around for a while, plying his music trade and mentoring a crop of new up and coming singers. However, in the last one year, the artiste , who once had a spat with rapper Rugged Man, failed to put out any album or single and this in turn led to rumours that he had gone bankrupt and was no longer relevant. With many Nigerian artistes generating a bulk of their income from shows and gigs, just how did the artiste who survives solely on music get by?

How does Nigerian music become very popular in Ghana?

How does Nigerian music become very popular in Ghana while Ghanaian music remains contraband commodity in the former’s country? This is a big question that requires serious necropsy by entertainment pundits. Give or show a Nigerian movie to the average Ghanaian in the 90’s and he or she will spurn it. At that time, Ghanaians loved Ghanaian movies to Nigerian movies. Starting the new millennium, Ghana was deluged with an influx of Nigerian movies. The table then turned; Ghanaians developed a strong predilection for Nigerian movies and ever since, have not looked back.
