₦5.4bn broadcast deal for Nigerian league

The League Management Company and SuperSport have agreed a four-year broadcast sponsorship deal with a cumulative worth of $34m (about ₦5.4b) for the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The deal, which was announced at a joint press briefing in Abuja, will commence from the 2015 season, though it was learnt that the deal had been structured to take care of developmental imperatives of the league beginning from this season.

This latest development brings to an end several crisis involving the LMC and Total Promotions over broadcast rights of the Nigerian league.

Sprinter, Gloria Asunmnu has said that she made a huge mistake switching allegiance to Nigeria, her country of origin from the USA, her country of birth when she did two years ago. Asumnu is in the Team Nigeria camp in Moscow and competed in the 100m event at the ongoing 14th IAAF World Championships where she crashed out at the semi-final stage. The Tulane University, USA graduate wrote on her Facebook wall on Thursday that she made a big mistake choosing to run for Nigeria even though she failed to make the USA team prior to that decision. Stephen Keshi made vital substitutions with Victor Moses replacing Sunday Mba, while Ahmed Musa comes on for Nsofor and Nwofor replaces Ameobi. This brought its fruits on 49th minute, Uche Nwofor scores with an impeccable backheel! South Africa's defence is torn open by the Super Eagles and the substitute audaciously scores from inside the box. The second goal was scored with a clinical move on 68th minute! Nwofor doubled his tally from close range, after Musa and Moses magicked their way through South Africa's stunned defence. The final score is 2-0 for the Super Eagles!
