 100,000 Voices Telethon held at Koga studios, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos and was broadcast live on Channels TV, EbonyLife TV and Beat FM on 18, January, 2014 between 10am and 1pm. Celebrities found its way to their numbers to lend their voices to GenVoices; the project-driven platform harnessing the offline&online energy of young Nigerians for practical efforts towards nation building. In attendance were Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, Omawummi, Timi Dakolo, Mai Atafo, Eku Edewor, Mai Atafo, Toke Makinwa, Omoni Oboli, Kemi Lala Akindoju amongst others. See pics following the break

2014 Oscar nominees list out! Chiwetel & Lupita Nyong'o nominated

Chiwetel Ejiofor got a Best Actor nomination for his role in '12 Years a Slave', while Kenyan beauty Lupita Nyong'o got a Best Supporting actress nomination for same movie. Somalian Barkhad Abdi got Best Supporting actor nomination for his role as the main villain in Captain Phillips.

Akpos gets pulled over for speeding 88mph in a 45 zone. The cop asks for his drivers license and Akpos says, "I'm sorry officer, but my license was suspended after my 5th Accident." The cop asks for his registration and Akpos says "It's in the glove compartment, but it's not in my name because I stole this car in a car jacking and I killed the woman that owns the car and stuffed her in the trunk and the gun I used is in the glove compartment.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, has congratulated rival Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Real Madrid star beat him to the 2013 Ballon d’Or prize on Monday.  Messi, who has won the award four times in a row, came second behind the Portuguese, while Franck Ribery ended up in third. Although Messi also had a remarkable year, it was not enough to topple Ronaldo, who he described as a just winner.

Shina Peller opens Club, names it Quilox. (See Pics)

 Socialite and Lagos Big Boy Shina Peller has joined the league of club owners in Nigeria. The world class Club Quilox which is on 873 Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue was opened last December in befitting grand style. At exactly 12 midnight, the skies lit up with amazing and spectacular fireworks display, and the legend of Quilox was unveiled.

 

Speaking at the opening night, the Chairman of Quilox, Shina Peller said “the initiative came as a result of an urge to provide a befitting and classy place where fun loving Nigerians can relax and have fun.
