Keshi, I don’t want your job –Oliseh

A former captain of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has lashed back at Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi over comments he made against him at the weekend. Oliseh, who responded through his blog, asked Keshi to learn to accept constructive criticism and work with it like managers in Europe do rather than slam any professional that raises any issue about the Eagles.
Last Saturday in Kaduna, Keshi lashed out at Oliseh for saying that there were too many unexposed home-based players in the Confederations Cup team. Oliseh said it affected the team’s performance in the FIFA event.
Writing via his blog on Tuesday, the Belgium-based Atlanta ’96 Olympics gold medalist said, “Keshi is a good coach. In fact he is the most successful coach Nigeria has had in the past decade and by winning the Nations Cup 2013 he boarded the ship of achieving coaches.

Liverpool Turns Down Arsenal’s £30 Million Bid For Suarez.

Arsenal’s bid for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been turned down by Liverpool, reports the BBC Sport. The Gunners have tabled a £30m bid for the striker, who has been the subject of several transfer speculations, but the Kops says no deal.
It is understood the English Premier League club had moved to sign the unsettled striker in their bid to land a top class forward to booster their title challenge next season as Gonzalo Higuain’s deal lingers on, but the Merseyside club remains adamant to let go of their prolific goalscorer.
Liverpool have refused to comment on the reports of Arsenal move, but the player’s future should become clearer by next month, when he’s expected to have returned for the pre-season.

Taye Taiwo joins Turkish club

Out-of-favour Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo has completed his move to Turkish side Bursaspor from AC Milan.
Taiwo, who played on loan at Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev last season, passed a medical before finalising his three-year contract on Saturday. The 28-year-old joined Milan from Marseille in the summer of 2011, but struggled for a regular first-team place, spending the second half of that season on loan at Premier League club QPR.

After being frozen out in Italy, the left-back has opted to part ways with the Italian giants, by sealing a permanent move elsewhere.  “The national team is something that is clearly out of my hands, it’s up to the Nigerian coach”
“I’ve joined a club with a massive fan base, something only comparable to the passionate Marseille fans,” Taiwo told BBC Sport.  “The fans gave me an unbelievable welcome. I am happy and excited to have joined Bursaspor.
“I always want to play football and if that opportunity is not available then I need to look elsewhere.”
“I’m very ambitious as a player and this club is going in that direction as well.

I'm not scared of Higuain – Podolski

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski insists he is not concerned about his place in the team, despite increasing speculation Gonzalo Higuain is set to join the club from Real Madrid.
Podolski, 28, joined the Gunners last summer from Cologne in an £11m transfer, and believes he has shown enough in that time to warrant inclusion in a bolstered attacking line-up.
“It is always good when good players come in,” Podolski toldThe Sun. “I don’t worry about a specific player. And it is certainly not a problem.

“I am strong enough and I have qualities. And when good players come in, I will play with good players.
“Every season players come in and players go. But I think it is good news if top players come in.
“The hope is that this season Arsenal will be at the top of the league. English football, thankfully, is not like Spain where you only have two teams – Barcelona and Real Madrid – who fight at the top. In the Premier League you have five, six, even seven top, top teams.

I can beat Bolt again says Tyson Gay

Tyson Gay is finally injury-free and says he has “no excuses” for not beating Usain Bolt. The fastest man in the world this year, Gay acknowledged his frustration at dealing with hip, groin and hamstring pain while Bolt piled up world records and gold medals. “It just was maddening for so long,” said the American, who won sprint double gold at the 2007 world championships before Bolt started dominating the following year.

“It’s finally over and done with,” Gay told reporters ahead of his headline appearance in the 100 at the Athletissima Diamond League meeting. “I have no excuses, I have no pain. I feel good. I am over the mental part of being injured,” said the sprinter whose 31st birthday next month falls on the eve of the worlds opening in Moscow. Now Gay wants Bolt, who skipped Athletissima to run a 200 in Paris on Saturday, to arrive in Russia in the same great shape. Double Olympic silver medallist Yohan Blake is the actual world champion at 100 – after Bolt famously false-started in Daegu, South Korea – though the Jamaican No.2 has had a hamstring injury since April.

Fuji Musicians are not touts – Askari Fuji

EXPERIENCE in the police College?
When we got to Police College in April 12, 1991, we did our first three months and they wanted to pay our allowance, on that day, I found myself entertaining everybody with songs.  In the college I remember one night I bought some candles and lit them in the dormitory and sang for my friends, I was going from one bed to another with another guy, we call him wale and he used to be my backup singer then and my mates were dashing me 50naira, 100naira and like that. It got to a time where people starting asking me why I came to police college instead of being a musician and whenever our instructor gave us cutlass to cut grass or whatever, he will leave me just because of my talent and say ''No you will not cut grass but will come to sing for me in my dormitory''.

NFF Described Flying Eagles’ Play In FIFA U-20 World Cup As ‘Horrible’

The Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has described the performance of the Flying Eagles at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey as “horrible”.
The Coach John Obuh-tinkered Flying Eagles, Tuesday, crashed out in the second round of the tournament, following a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Uruguay, whose senior side, had earlier accounted for the elimination of the Super Eagles at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.
It was double jeopardy for Nigerians, who in the space of a little over a week, had seen their teams suffer consecutive defeats in the hands of the South Americans at a global event.  And reacting to the results, a member of the NFF’s Technical Committee, Paul Bassey told Sports Vanguard that the Flying Eagles did not know what they were doing in Turkey.
