Keshi hopeful about Moses, Emenike

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has played down the injury sustained by strikers Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike during the second half of the semi-final match against Mali in Durban on Wednesday. Moses was withdrawn early in the half for Ahmed Musa and it was thought that he could have sustained a muscle strain which could keep him out of the Sunday final.
Emenike was also stretchered to the sideline after he appeared to have sustained a muscle cramp while attempting to score. But Keshi said he was hopeful that the duo would feature on Sunday.

Adebayor Causes Hotel Mayhem

Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly causing trouble in South Africa despite his team’s ouster from the tournament. The Togo team had been staying at the plush Winkler Hotel in Mpumalanga. After getting knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations they had a flight booked to take them back to Togo but Adebayor told some of the squad not to take it because he was going to arrange a private jet for everyone.

“Ronaldo Unlucky To Be Born In The Same Era With Messi” – Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is ‘from a different planet’ as he assesses his sublime talents, but does not believe he was a worthy winner of the 2012 FIFA World Player of the Year prize.
Wenger felt the full force of Messi’s genius when the Barcelona maestro blasted four goals past Arsenal in a Champions League quarter-final back in 2010, but he is convinced there were more worthy winners of the prize in a year when Barcelona failed to live up to their own extraordinary standards.

Win Nations Cup for us, Drogba begs Eagles

By Tony Ubani
Even in defeat, Didier Tebily Yves Drogba was graceful. Despite swallowing the bitter pill of defeat that has dented his beautiful career – without a Nations Cup trophy, the Ivorian has sent a passionate plea to the Super Eagles
“Please, win the Nations Cup for us”, he pleaded as he hugged Stephen Keshi and his former teammate Mikel Obi after the 2-1 defeat in the quarter final match at Rustenberg.

Drogba’s army of super stars were tipped by all and sundry to win the match against a relatively young and inexperienced Super Eagles. The Eagles stepped up their game and were immaculate in their form, attack, defence and discipline. They stung Cote d’Ivoire and have made their critics to swallow their words.

‘Ifreke Inyang – 'Nigeria can win the AFCON' – 6 things we learnt from today’s victory over Cote d’I

Nigeria can win the AFCON
Let me catch my breath. Was that the Super Eagles of Nigeria against the Elephants? Did we utterly dominate the quarter-final clash or what? Every single player was up for the game. Less fancied names like Onazi Ogenyi, Sunday Mba, etc stood up tall and strong against true football superstars like Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba. Save for that little blip defensively, that led to Tiote levelling scores, the Eagles were almost perfect. Long may it continue. And who knows? With this kind of form, we fear no foe!

Genevieve dropped from Chimamanda Adichie's Half of a Yellow Sun

Genevieve Nnaji's small part in the big screen adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel “Half of a Yellow Sun” has been cut out from the finished film. It wasn't just Genevieve's scenes that were cut from the movie, a few other characters from the book didn't appear in the movie. Sources in the know say the producers may have cut Genevieve from the movie because her character wasn't important to the story and was dragging the storyline unnecessarily. Other characters didn't appear because there was not much time to tell everyone's story. Genny may appear in a scene or two but it will be very insignificant. Genevieve played the role of Ms Adebayo, a professor who develops a flirtatious relationship with her colleague Mr Odenigbo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Half of a Yellow Sun features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Dominic Cooper, Anika Noni Rose and Thandie Newton. Produced by Andrea Calderwood and directed by Biyi Bandele. The book centers on the Nigerian civil war and was published in 2006.
