Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu made me choose Nigeria –Moses

Chelsea forward Victor Moses has revealed how former internationals Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu talked him into choosing Nigeria over England, especially after he was overlooked by England coaches.
The former Crystal Palace sensation was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa following his spectacular display as Nigeria won the African title for the third time.
Moses played for England from Under-16 to U-21 level and was tipped by former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan to be one of England ’s finest. But unfortunately, U-21 boss Stuart Pearce and former England manager Fabio Capello had little or no interest in Moses.

10 Lessons From Nigeria’s Victory At AFCON 2013 By Malcolm Fabiyi

The applause has died off. The 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Nigeria team have played themselves into the annals of history. However, there are timeless lessons to be gleaned from the performance and attitudes of the Super Eagles coach and players. Here are ten of the most pertinent lessons.

1.    Stand your ground. When Keshi submitted his list of players, he was roundly lampooned for the list of players he came up with. The big name, perennial stalwarts were absent. Six of the players he selected played in the lackluster local league.  Keshi and his team were written off even before the games began. It is easier to swim in the direction in which a stream flows – but sometimes, true progress can only come by taking a stand that goes against the common grain. Stand your ground, when you believe your reasoning is sound, and your cause is right.

Manchester United Have Been Lucky – Mancini

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes Manchester United have been lucky in opening their substantial lead at the top of the Premier League.
Reigning champions City host Chelsea on Sunday, looking to trim United’s significant advantage which was stretched to 15 points on Saturday when they triumphed 2-0 at QPR.
Mancini’s men face a huge task if they are to peg back their city rivals but the manager insists United have had the rub of the green on their way to the top." Until now, United have been really lucky with everything,” he said.

Why Late Justus Esiri Never Used Stage Name

The late Nollywood icon, Justus Esiri might have lived by the axiom that a good name is better than silver and gold.
A performer will often take a stage name because his/her real name is considered unattractive, dull, unintentionally amusing or difficult to pronounce or spell, or because it has been used by another notable individual or because it projects an undesired image. Sometimes a performer adopts a name that is unusual or outlandish to attract attention.

Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers In Serious Battle over the ownership of Sunday Mba.

Following his impressive display at the recently concluded 2013 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, two Nigerian clubs Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers are in battle over the ownership of Sunday Mba.
While Mba played for the Super Eagles at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa, the midfielder was referred to as a Warri Wolves player by the commentators and other media personalities profiling the player. But after the AFCON victory and a performance that could earn him a club abroad, Rangers have declared that Sunday Mba is their bonafide player contrary to the claims by Warri Wolves, where he last played.

10 things we loved about Darey’s ‘Love Like a Movie’ (aside Kim Kardashian)

Honestly we loved every single second of Darey Art Alade’s ‘Love Like a Movie’ concert so much that picking out some of the moments that stood out is one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. Still we’ll try, just so you wont have to.

1)The red carpet kicked off right on time at about 5pm when celebrities began to trickle in. A sharp contrast from the regular event scene where endless delays and blatant tardiness have been accepted as the norm rather than the exception.

2) Darey’s stunning entrance from a set prop that just popped open to let him out has set the standard for superstar entrances. Good luck to anyone trying to top that.

Cup win’ll motivate Eagles to do more – Ugbade

China ‘85 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Nduka  Ugbade has tipped the Super Eagles to book their ticket to the Brazil 2014 World Cup finals with no  Nigerian ‘hospitalised’ for high blood pressure like in the past, saying the Africa Cup of Nations triumph  will motivate the team.
Nigeria  on February 10 beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final of the South Africa 2013 to win the trophy for the third time, after  they were champions on home soil in 1980 and at the Tunisia ’94 finals.
Speaking to our correspondent on the telephone during the week, Ugbade, a member of the Tunisia ’94 winning squad, said the  players would be fired up for the  World Cup qualifiers  by the South Africa 2013 success.

Emenike as future Yekini

Players with a nose for putting the ball in the back of the net are hot commodities anywhere in the world of football and Nigeria’s Emmanuel Emenike is one example of such players.
Many Nigerians should be glad that the quick, strong and clinical finisher did not yield to pressures from Turkey to play for the Crescent Stars.
Just one major outing for his country, the 25-year-old has been turning heads and hogging headlines in the media, where he has been compared to the legendary Rashidi Yekini.

Keshi told us to prove him right – Mba

Warri Wolves striker Sunday Mba says the Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi’s pep  talk with the players before the kick-off the South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations  motivated  the team  to go the extra mile for the trophy.
Many dismissed the Eagles as no-hopers after Keshi named a 23-man squad largely made up of  domestic league and semi-professional players    for the championship.
And Keshi admitted that he had taken a big risk with his decision to exclude the likes of West Brom’s Osaze Odemwingie, on-loan Dynamo Kyiv’s Taye Taiwo,  Levante’s Obafemi Martins and Turkey-based Yussuf Ayila from the squad.

Barcelona Blames Loss To AC Milan On San Siro Pitch

Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura hit out at the state of the pitch at the San Siro after his side were left staring at an early Champions League exit following a shock 2-0 loss to AC Milan on Wednesday.
It was an African show as Ghanaians Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari who were not part of their nation’s team at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations, AFCON, scored one apiece in a lively second half as the hosts’ impressive defence throughout the match stunned the Catalans.
Roura, standing in for Tito Vilanova while the coach undergoes cancer treatment in New York, admitted the Blaugrana had simply not done enough.
